1997/1952 Cunningham C-4RC Continuation R5222

The two original 1952 Cunningham C-4Rs were the most successful sports-racing cars built by Briggs Cunningham. Both cars are now prominently displayed in world-class private collections.

This C-4RC continuation car, R5222, was the first of four similar cars built 1997-2001 by Briggs Cunningham’s son and the revived Cunningham Motor Co. It was the “media/demo” car, developed, tested and displayed by Briggs Cunningham III, John Fitch, Phil Walters, Denise McCluggage and other distinguished members of the former Cunningham racing team.

When purchased by its current owner, the car’s former life as a test mule and its use and abuse by an international assortment of automotive journalists had taken its toll. Now restored to its former glory, it is well known for waking the neighbors and amusing the antelope early on Saturday mornings while cruising the wide and wonderful highways of Arizona’s high-desert grasslands.
